Punch the Baby Macaque Monkey

Baby Punch — pronounced Punch-Kun in Japanese — was born in July 2025 and rejected by his mother shortly after birth. He was then rescued by Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan. 

Videos went viral of baby Punch being bullied by other Macaques as he struggled to be accepted into the social hierarchy of his new home.

For comfort, Punch drags around his very own plushie: a stuffed Orangutan, given to him by zookeepers to help with his anxiety and isolation. 

Punch has become famous as long queues have formed at the zoo just to see him. His journey is documented all over the internet.
